Wisconsin Lake House

This charming lake house is an oasis getaway that overlooks Lake Winnebago. The house had been through some renovations before my clients had taken residency but the kitchen was much left to be desired.

Before:

This dated kitchen was a  highly disfunctional living space with little cabinet room for storage.

The dining room had old paneling with a heavy green carpet that not only shortened the look of the room but also made it seem smaller. The overhead cabinets extending over the peninsula blocking the natural sunlight coming into the room.

Drawings

The Floor Plan shows the new renovated layout. We switched the sink over to the window wall, and provided cabinets along underneath. The floor plan originally shows the refridgerator on the same side which was later switched to the opposite side to provide more cabinet space along that wall.

The new oven was switched to center of the old sink wall. We removed the cabinets overhanging the peninsula to have a slightly more open feel and to provide more natural light. The peninsula elevation shows pendant lights as a proposed option which was later changed to recessed lighting all around to have a seemless look.

After

Kitchen

The new renovated kitchen boasts of beautiful rich dark cabinets with a neutral gray quartz countertop by Cambria and an greyish white railroad tile with a mosaic tile accent that runs along the wall. The floor is a washed grey plank wood floor that extended out to the dining room which made the room uniformed brought out the spaciousness of both rooms.

Dining

We removed the dark wainscotting which provided the room a clean fresh look and made the room look bigger. The husband is a big fan of quality wood craftmanship and found this vintage crafts style table and chair set.

(Frank Lloyd Wright has had some major influences in the architecture and furniture pieces of this Wisconsin region which crafts style is quite common.)
